Lesson 27: Rhododendron, Azalea and Poppies

This class was conducted in a live workshop on flower and birds painting on July 11, 2013. The flowers include rhododendron, azalea and poppies, and you will also learn how to paint Lingnan style birds, how to fold and cut the paper into a fan-face shape and how to make traditional color from pigment powder with gelatine, step by step in a classroom setting.

Demos and Assignments
1: Rhododendron and Azalea
A. follow the video demo and handouts on rhododendron and practice on a 14" x 18" unsized Xuan paper;
B. Cut a piece of 14"x18" Xuan paper into fan-face shape and paint azalea after Master Zhang.
2: Poppies
Please follow the demo and handout to practice poppies.
3. Lingnan Sparrow (as seen on YouTube)
Please follow the steps in the handout and video demo to paint a Lingnan style sparrows. If you birds turn out nice, you may complete the painting with flowers that you have learned in this and other classes.
