The title "山中紫木筆" (Shān zhōng zǐ mù bǐ) - "Purple Wood Brush in the Mountain" is inspired by the classical Chinese name for magnolia. This name was given because the bud of the magnolia flower resembles a Chinese calligraphy brush, poetically connecting the natural form with artistic creation.

Gongbi, a traditional Chinese painting technique renowned for its precision and delicacy, provides the perfect medium to capture the elegant forms of these magnificent flowers.
