Often ignored, a brush rest is actually necessary for the creation of traditional Chinese calligraphy or painting. It is called "Bi Shan" or "brush mountain" in Chinese because its shape looks like the Chinese character "mountain" Shan. 

This ceramic brush rest can hold 6 various size brushes. You can prevent your brush from staining your table or accidentally rolling over onto your painting by using this brush rest. It's decorated with white porcelain glaze with blue dragon pattern.

A very impressive & useful accessory. There are two hollow areas in the bottom of mine; I'm sure this was done on purpose to reduce the final weight. It doesn't affect the functionality at all. Plus, the dragon design is a nice touch :)
